--iFly 740b--OK, I'm unable to find the answer to this one:  The times shown in brackets on the 'History' -- 'Show past flight trails' page do not correspond to the 'Flight duration' times shown on the map screen at the end of flight.  Why the two differing times for the same leg? Which is the correct time to log? I even have two past flight trails that show 'negative' times, (- sign)??

The on-screen flight time is just that - flight time - from takeoff to roll out. (Though I'm not sure how to set limits speeds for this, or even if you can.) The flight history, on the other hand, measure from when you start moving to when you stop. Depending on your airport and taxi, this will usually be .2 to .3 more than the flight time, but could be higher or lower. Officially, "log" time goes from engine start for the purpose of flight to engine shut down.  Again, usually this would be maybe .1 more than the history time.

So you have options.  I just use the history time.

I use the Hobbs meter time for the total flight.  If I want to log legs such as to and from an airport, I estimate each based on which way had a tail wind and which way had a head wind.  If I'm flying an airplane that doesn't have a Hobbs meter, I note the time of start up and shut down.

I've always been remiss in writing down T-O/LDG times, so 'History' time does sound like the best choice (more like Hobbs time, which I don't have) since Flight duration just sums total for the day, and I often fly several legs. Appreciate the explanations!   (Still haven't figured out the minus signs on a couple of 'history' times....)
