I do periodic proficiency training with a CFII who has an Elite BATD simulator in his office. He has recently configured it to share its simulated flight data wirelessly with his iPad running Foreflight to drive the georeferenced features, and he offers the use of his iPad to those clients who routinely fly with that iPad/Foreflight setup, to adhere to the "sim like you fly" philosophy.
I usually use my iFly during my training sessions with this CFII, but of course I'm just getting the charts and not the georeferenced ownship overlayed on the charts.
Is there a way to make that connection between the Elite and the iFly so I could use those georeferenced features? How would I do that?
(I suspect it's technically possible, since I know folks are using their iFly's this way with XPlane and MS Flight Sim. But I also suspect that maybe Elite needs to put "hooks" in the software to support this...I don't know if the iFly can take whatever's being shipped out for Foreflight or if it would need a different NMEA "sentence" structure. Also don't know if it could take the data wirelessly, or if it'd have to be via UBS / USB-serial.)
Thanks!
