Freezing up?

Freezing up?

While using my new IFly at home for flight planning, I have had a number of times when it would freeze and not respond to touching the screen. I have had to shut the power off and start over to get going again.

I have flown with the unit a couple of times, and did not have the problem when in motion.

Has anyone else had this issue, or am I doing something wrong?

Hi Gary,

I've moved this thread to the iFly Owners Q&A forum. There are a couple of known issues that can cause this: The Airport Information page is known to sometimes cause a lockup when touching the "View Charts" or pulling other menus. It's difficult to recreate, shouldn't happen too often. The unit could also lock up shortly after viewing the "Load Flights" page on the Flight Planning form. Both of these are known/documented problems that will be addressed in the next release.

After playing with this at home some more, it appears that if I spend enough time scrolling across the maps, it will happen. It does not appear to have any relation to a weak GPS signal in my case. I get 8 to 12 satellites sitting in my house.

Scott, and anyone else with input :) ,

Have you folks seen any issues with screen durability? My unit has a screen protector and sometimes seems slow to respond to a touch or swipe. I've wondered if the protector was interfering, but so far have been hesitant to remove it.

Note: The screen is much more sensitive to a fingernail or stylus inputs. When using the fleshy part of your finger it is not so sensitive and requires a firm touch.

The screen is very durable. I've been punishing a couple of development units for over 18 months with no hint of a scratch. I've only heard of one customer that scratched their screen, and I believe that was because it was dropped onto a sharp metal object.
