Here's one vote for a way to quickly mute all audible alerts for the duration of a flight (or longer). I took someone for their first flight recently, and they were a little nervous; after the flight, they commented, "I thought you were doing a pretty good job, but every time I started to get comfortable with what was going on, that little box would make a funny noise or start saying things and it kinda spooked me!"
