What I really want to do is disable all alerts and sounds. If you're intentionally flying in proximity to any of the hazards the unit is warning of it will flash the screen, the alert button or beep and make noise. After repeated reboots and fiddling I finally managed to get my sound turned off only to find the indicator for it in the upper left hand corner of the screen where the 2 most used instruments are ..... groundspeed and altitude.( I don't really use the altitude that much since its based on theoretical GPS rather than barometric.) Now its tough to see the groundspeed readout. I had shut off all sounds a number of times and still had the beeps but never got the indicator symbol before.
As for stopping the alerts I had gone to the menus and disabled what I could but that still left flashing buttons and beeps. There are times you don't need any distractions and for some reason the sounds this thing makes can be heard over the engine and through my headsets....not always but often enough that its a distraction.
It seems I finally managed to update the clock situation as well. I had to recalibrate about 4 times in order to get the timezone menu to work. I tried selecting all manner of different time zones and rebooting but never got the time to change at all. Then on the last try I went back to indiana East GMT -5 and viola the time updated without rebooting. Not sure whats going on here with all this and I'll probably try calling in and talking to someone or bringing it up to the booth at Oshkosh if I can make it. Things are weird sometimes and then fall into place with no rhyme or reason.
