Hello,

I have an issue with my 740 failing to get a GPS fix typically in the first several minutes after startup.  Most often it takes about 15 minutes to start displaying correct position. Recently it took 45 minutes.  In that time I have already taken off and am navigating by my phone.  Sometimes it loses GPS in flight but that isn't typical.  In virtually the whole time after startup where it doesn't have position it is displaying ADS-B traffic.  ADS-B is from an installed Echo-UAT which should also be the position source.  ADS-B reported position has been correct and without delay as indicated by FAA reports and Flightaware tracking.  Why can't the 740b figure out where it is at?

Thanks,

-Dave

Dave,

Check your settings.   Menu>About>GPS Information

Try checking/unchecking  "Use ADS-B position when available" and doing a test flight.  Let us know the outcome.

Hope this helps.

I'll give that a try.  It will be awhile before I am able to fly.

Thanks,

Of course, reverting to the internal 740 GPS (which is what the above step accomplishes) is a troubleshooting/workaround step.  I would expect iFly would like to help work out why the 740 is not properly consuming the GPS data from the Echo.  That will probably require recording some ADSB log data while the problem is occurring and submitting it along with a bug report.  Brolin can give you the exact steps to do that if needed.
