What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?
Are you literally just trying to put a specific location near the center of the screen? (And why?)
It's not clear to me why such an action would be a common task. The normal behavior of a moving map app is...well, for the map to move. So whatever you put in the center of the screen would not normally be expected to stay there for long.
So I'm wondering if there's some other reason you're trying to perform this action, and whether there might be a better way to accomplish your ultimate goal. (Are you trying to measure a distance, for instance?)
Otherwise, it's not clear to me why it's critical to hit the crosshairs exactly, and just putting something approximately in the middle of the screen isn't "good enough"...?
A couple of thoughts that may be helpful in your case with the current design:
- Using Sectional mode may be helpful, as there is enogh detail on the base map to spot your point while the map is decluttered.
- Adding your custom waypoint to your flight plan will keep the point visible while the map is decluttered
Both of those actions could be set up temporarily while you perform the action and then undone. Depending on how frequently you perform this, those might be acceptable workarounds or highly annoying.
