I may be off base because I don't have a 520. BUT... iFly Connect, with my 740 and previous 720, did all the necessary updating to the SD card while it was in the Windows computer, and no further update action was required after inserting the SD card back into the iFly device. On my old 700, you could copy the updates to a USB thumb drive, insert the thumb drive into the 700, and then an update program would copy the update from the thumb drive to the iFly. So it sounds to me like you don't need to do an "Update" after completing the iFly Connect update. But that makes me wonder about your "Update" option... perhaps a 520 can also be updated via USB, and it's not finding a thumb drive to update from. If so, then maybe iFly just needs to modify the error message for clarity. Just spitballing here... but it seems you got it completely up to date.

Michael,

The iFly 520 can be updated with a USB thumbdrive as well as using iFly Connect on a PC or saving the iFlyUpdatePackage.zip file directly to the SD card. The optimal way is with iFly Connect, however if that is not possible, then I'd download the zip file to the SD card. Safari is a bit tricky as it will try to unzip or "Open Safe" files after download. You can turn this off inside Safari Preferences on the General tab.

It sounds as though your chart updated, I'd suggest double checking the Software and Databases. Also, keep in mind it adding the update package to the SD card, I'd recommend keeping it smaller and free space is limited. IE, make one update with Software and Databases, then do another for VFR and another for IFR.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact our Support Department at 888-200-5129, press option 1 and they can help you out.

I've updated my 520 using both Ifly Connect and also downloading the zipped files to the SD card. When using Ifly Connect, once it's downloaded to the SD card, you're good to go. Just put the card back in the unit and fire it up. When downloading the zipped files, I would have to put the card into the 520, start it up and then use the "Update" option on the opening screen.

Hope this helps.
