I'd like to output my iFly 720's GPS data through the USB-serial cable to my MGL Xtreme EMS. I know the data is on pin 3 on the DB9 connector and ground is on pin 5. My XTreme EMS has a wire already in its harness labeled "RS232 Port 2 RXD" which I know is the correct input for the data and I plan to make up a female DB9 connector to attach that wire to pin 3. However, the XTreme manual does not mention anything about whether a ground is required (I've got a support query submitted to MGL but they've not answered yet) so I'm wondering if anyone has "been there, done that" and knows if the serial cable's pin 5 ground needs to be connected, and if so, where ... EMS, RDAC, airframe, etc.? Thanks, John N750A
