I would like to mount the unit semi permanently in my helicopter with wiring being the discussion in this thread. I am considering purchasing a 110v-12v charger (through iflyit so theres no question about compatability and wire size. Cut the tranformer off, keeping only the lead wire and plug. connect this lead wire through a new and separate 1 amp circ breaker switch on the heli panel to the iflyit portable battery, then connect the battery out wire to the iflyit unit. There is a small "glove box" so the battery would be out of sight along with the wires. This provides what will essentially be an unterruptible power supply which is always charged when the heli is running and will provide power to the iflyit if there is ever an electrical power supply issue. I also don't have to "remember" the battery when going to the airport because it will be in the ship with the iflyit unit. Since i would retain the end plugs on the wires, then everything is still easily removable if I wanted to take it all home and do some programming and updates. Can anyone suggest potential problems with this scenario? Thanks. Randy Strock, Conowingo, MD.
