As a beta tester for the Stratux Project, I brought this up years ago. (It's probably a post in github, with photos.) The problem is that the Stratux does not "de-dupe" targets. (Direct and re-broadcast.) And, after one of the main geniuses left the group, there was no one else who could fix it.

that explains why the main stratux project is dormant... the EU fork is alive but they don't have rebroadcasts via UAT so may the developer does not know if this is a problem. may be worth repost your issue in the EU fork?

On the other hand, I have not noticed any dupes in foreflight.

Yeah, I didn't see dupes with (my buddy's) ForeFlight either. But in that case, it was apples to oranges, since, at the time, FF only talked to a Stratus.
And so I wasn't able to compare FF's behavior with my Stratux.
So I don't know if the de-duping was being done in the Stratus or in FF itself.

Mind blown by the thourough analysis by you all. it's a bummer that no solution had emerged.

FWIW I'm using the foreflight with Stratux exclusively for the last several months and have not ran across traffic duplication problem. I switched to foreflight for no other reason than its reliable and accurate voice traffic alerts. I'd like to go back to iFLY (new version?) if I can get traffic advisories/dupe situation sorted out.

If you're using a Stratux but not seeing dupes with ForeFlight, then that suggests that they are de-duping in the application. (I was going to say "software." But the plan was to dedupe in software in the Stratux too.)

FWIW, iFly had considered de-duping a couple years ago, when I posted in the github. But apparently not a big enough problem needing a solution.
