The most recent Android update to FltPlan Go will not connect to a Stratus 3 so the only way to unlock and use GDL90 is to use an Apple device. Unfortunately it will then revert to non-GDL90 if it sees an Apple WiFi connection which is easy to do on a busy ramp or with a pax using an iPhone.

I'm in communications with Stratus and they have confirmed the problem and communicated it to both FltPlan Go and IFly GPS, Stratus, who advertises the 3 as Open GDL90 compliant acts like it's not their problem and are waiting for FltPlan Go and IFly GPS to solve the problem................meanwhile I...........and no doubt others..........have $700. paperweights.

I recently updated my old 700 to the new Ifly 740 and decided to go with the Stratus 3.  Although I am able to connect to the Stratus 3 via WiFi, I am not able to pickup any of the ADS B in data, traffic, metars and etc.  If I understand this correctly, The stratus 3 is not compatible with my New Ifly 740.  Can anyone confirm this?

I have a 740 and a Stratus 3i,  The 740 is compatable with the Stratus 3.   However you need to download and use the Stratus Horizon Pro App on an iPhone/iPad and set the "Open ADSB" Switch to "On". The Stratus Horizon Pro app is also necessary to update the firmware on the Stratus.  Another thing to note is that while the Stratus should retain the Open ADSB switch  setting when it is powered down and back on, if someone uses ForeFlight, ForeFlight will turn the switch back off.  You can not use both ForeFlight and iFly at the same time with the Stratus.

V11 of iFly GPS will force the Stratus 3 into 'Open ADS-B' each time it connects so you shouldn't see issues going forward.
