Hi Guys,

I have hard wired a uAvionix echoUAT and SkyFYX-EXT to my 740 in my Vans RV4. I have an external gps antenna for the 740 and get 4 green bars and looking at one of my photos, I see a ADS-B box with one green bar. None of the videos seem to show just how the various pages on the 740 should be set up. What should I have on the Wireless Device Options page(I'm not wireless) How about the NMEA Output Settings page?  I have been getting a pop up that says: "Device Synicing requires that this device be registered with a paid subscription"   I am paid up for several more months with my VFR subscription.  I have failed the test on the FAA site several times and am not picking up any traffic.  Thanks for any ideas on how to get this up and running.

John, if I am reading your post correctly, you say you failed the FAA test at the FAA ADSB monitoring site.  That site is only for ADSB OUT monitoring.  The UAvionics is ADSB IN only. If you don't have an ADSB OUT certified transponder, no one will see you.

I should have also mentioned that I am using a new Becker BXP6401 mode S transponder. It is also wired up to the echoUAT to provide ADS-B out.

Your iFly 740 is a receiving only device. It receives the ADS-B information from a connected ADS-B device and displays that information on the screen. It will show you GPS location information as well as ADS-B weather and traffic. If this is not working properly and you are sure you are connected with your ADS-B source device, then I believe the problem is with the ADS-B device. Also, the iFly would have NOTHING to do with ADS-B out and compliance with the ADS-B 2020 mandate. Are you sure your iFly 740 is connected with your ADS-B source device?

I have the Echo UAT, SkyFYX-EXT and a 740 in my RV-6.

I use WiFi connection between the 740 and the Echo. Join the 740 to the Ping-xxxx WiFi network which will be visible when the Echo is on. The WiFi connection between the two has been 100% dependable.

Further, this setup doesn’t tie up the USB port on the 740 so it was available for me to wire the 740 USB out to drive my Dynon EFIS/Autopilot which happily follows whatever route I have in the 740.

Sorry I can’t help with a wired set up but I can say the combo works great together.  

As for failing the PAPR, I did first time also. You didn’t mention what transponder you have. I just have an old Mode C that the Echo sniffs to get the squawk code to use for ADSB out. There is a transponder threshold adjustment I had to play with (uAvionics were very helpful with explaining it) and  that immediately sorted the PAPR failure out for me.  I suspect your ADSB out failure issue is in the settings for the Echo. If you share which parameters you are failing with uAvionics they should be able to help. They certainly did for me.
