I took the iPad mini up for a flight with Ifly GPS and my old early model Stratus receiver  It's the original black model. The connected devices screen shows stratus v1 and that connected OK but it shows zero towers and zero everything except data rate which is high three digits. Ground link status is Not Receiving. The No GPS position lock flag is on and the position never changed from the airport over an hour plus flight.

Is this older unit incompatible?

I could be wrong, but I thought the early Stratus only works with ForeFlight.

It would seem that at least some of the earlier (than Stratus 3) will work with iFly since Stratus v1 is listed.

I have a Stratus 3 and my 740 would behave similarly when it was NOT set to "Open Mode".  The 740 would show it connected to the Stratus wifi in the CE settings page, but the iFly program would just show "Waiting for Heartbeat".

I noticed last time I went flying my iPad iFly program didn't show connection to Stratus 3 despite my 740 being connected.  All I had to do was to reset the connection and all was well.  Apparently my iPad had attempted to connect before the Stratus 3 was firmly running or something similar.  Perhaps your situation can be rectified by clicking on the ADSB Status box>Options>Reset/Reconnect.

If I recall correctly, Foreflight/Stratus took pains back in the day to intentionally break 3rd party compatibility.  There were a couple of FF software and Stratus firmware updates that tweaked the comm protocol.  So I'm not certain, but I think it's possible that iFly is only compatible with certain Stratus firmware versions.

Stratus released a May 2019 firmware update that allows Open ADSB. (earlier versions may do this as well) My experience has been when a device with the Stratus Horizon Pro App intereacts, it will overide the Open ADSB setting to communicate with the app in another data format and will not switch back as long as that device is on the stratus' wifi.
