Friends,

I saw my first SkyBeacon (wingtip) yesterday at a fly-in breakfast...a new pilot to our group brought it in for "show and tell" over chow...

My observations:

-Much sturdier than I thought it would be.

-Looks very easy to install.

-One of our group mentioned that over time, UV rays would affect the device, especially for planes kept outside - he will simply develop a "cover" for it - he suggested the blue bag from his latest "Crown Royal" bottle! (He flies a Beech!)

-Very positive impression -- now bring on the TailBeacon for the rest of us!

PULLED THE TRIGGER...

OK, I signed up to be part of the "Group Buy" going on through the Ercoupe Owners Group -- they opened it to like-planes, so the 150 was OK with them.

I really do not expect much of a discount and I really do not beleive it will arrive in time to get the $500 faa taxpayer give-back, so that aspect does not concern me.

I do want a high-quality ADSB out sytem that is easy to install and will work for at least 5-7 years without issues.

Folks on the Cessna 150 Club are saying great things about the SkyBeacon (wing version) so I am going to give this a try.

Thanks to IFly and everyone here for helping to sponsor this product - it is the only way I can really afford it.
