Your iPad and iFly can only connect to whichever ADS-B device is available. If you are only using one ADS-B device, it can connect to no other unless there is another device close by and turned on. I suggest you have your iPad "forget" any WIFI connections to devices you have connected to in the past. If your iPad is connected to a Stratus 3 via WIFI, then iFly GPS can only connect to the Stratus 3.

Disregard.

Good to hear.  I am planning the install of a Status ESG/3i over the next couple of months (along with a new interior and annual).

I guess I didn't make my report clear enough.  On my return flight, the iFly program on my iPad Mini4 indicated it was connected to Stratux and waiting for a heartbeat.  I changed to the Settings App and checked which WiFi the iPad was connected to (because there shouldn't have been any Stratux to connect to), and it said it was, in fact, connected to the Stratus.  I went back to the iFly program, changed the Connected Device to Auto Detect, and possibly refreshed the connection, and it immediately put check marks in all the ADSB boxes.

I never formally closed iFly.  I left it running in the background and toggled back to it.

Mike, thanks for the report, we haven't been able to test with a 3i since Appareo only sent us 3's, so that's reassuring to know they didn't change anything on us again. Not connecting when set to Stratux makes sense. Different ADS-B devices work on different protocols and ports, so the Auto-Detect goes through them all until it finds good data. With Stratux selected, it was only listening on that one port. We recommend setting it to Auto-Detect for everything now, unless you're troubleshooing something.
