Hi, I am wondering if hidden somewhere in the log file is the flight duration. I know that I can look at the flight trails history but the times recorded there are very much inaccurate, I'm guessing it counts my taxi time as well which can add 20 minutes on some days.

The reason I ask is because if I go on a trip somewhere at every stop I have to take a snapshot of the screen in order to record the flight duration. When I get home I then go through my snapshots to record flight times in my log book. It's kind of a pain and a couple of times have forgotten to take the snapshot.

Thanks,

Todd

I would recommend using MyFlightbook.  It's free, and (if you launch it during your pre-takeoff checklist) it will record your takeoff and landing times and compute the flight duration, as well as record your route.  It's a fantastic flight logging tool, and the price is perfect.

Website is here:  https://myflightbook.com/logbook/Default.aspx

The link to download the app is at the very top of the page.

Thanks for the response. I actually use MyFlightbook but when I tried the autodetect it didn't seem to work. Maybe I'll give it another whirl but iFly gets the flight duration dead on every time, if only it would show up in flight history.

In the settings, make sure the autodetect speed is set appropriately for your airplane and flight speeds (I think the default is 70kts) and that the box for "Autodetect Takeoffs and Landings" is checked.  (Mine has spontaneously unchecked itself once or twice over the years, usually after an app update.)

Tried it again today and still didn't work for some reason. Guess I'll just have to keep taking snapshots of the flight duration timer
