This is the proper way to shut-down if you're so inclined:

1. Shut-down iFly first. I'm not sure if this is necessary.
2. Go to your browser
3. Type in 192.168.10.1 and Click Go
4. Click Menu
5. Click Settings
6. Click Shutdown
7. Give Stratux a few seconds to shut down
8. Unplug or switch off power to Stratux

To make it MUCH easier, do this once and then save the address for the shutdown command to your iPad (or Android) page where you have your iFly ICON and other aviation related apps. Name it Shutdown or whatever you want. When you exit iFly, there will be the button to press to shut down your Stratux. Don't forget to unplug it or switch it off. I also saved a button named Stratux to take me to the Stratux Menu for pre-flight activities such as Calibrate Gyros and Reset/Level the AHRS. I do both before flight as well as tap and Recalibrate to Level the iFly AHRS instrument.

Mike, blank SD cards of 8Gb size are just a few dollars.  There are instructions in several places about how to use your desktop/laptop to write the images yourself to the new, blank SD cards.  It is pretty simple.

It takes more time to read the shutdown instructions that it does to actually do it.

It is NOT a "maybe," "it could happen," "probably won't happen" and so on.  It WILL happen to you without graceful shutdowns.  There is no magic or hopeful expectation to it.

An alternative is to make the entire partition read-only, but if you ever wanted stratux logs (and most never need it) you'd have to do the two partition setup.

Skypuppy,

Thanks. I believe you and will comply as suggested.

Q: If I NEVER want to have or use the adsb logs, is there a way to configure the card once so that I can preclude the every-time-I-fly shutdown procedure?

I am just not that interested in going back to review them and cannot see myself investing time in reviewing logs...

Thanks!

Mike

Tim, EXCELLENT checklist! I am going to print and place this in my checklist - big thanks!

Mike, you only have to turn off logging once per OS load.  That is, anytime you reflash or replace the SD card.  It seems to be on by default but maybe that will change in the future.
