New card arrived and working great!

Big thanks to STRATUX for sending a new one out over the holiday weekend! Appreciate it Chris! Didn't even miss one flight!

Big thanks to all of you for being very patient with me and generous with your expert advice and time.

What a terrific forum!

The Stratux AHRS development, which is still in beta, is leaving a trail of logs on the disk that could potentially fill up the card, especially if the card is not expanded by the user (another quirk of the DIY process).  A future release will clean up this oversight.  Meanwhile, the developer of Stratux has posted an easy way to delete all logs on the Reddit Stratux forum here: https://www.reddit.com/r/stratux/comm...flashing_green/

I'll copy his process here:

  1. Click the version tag on the main status page about 10 times in rapid succession.
  2. The "Developer" tab will appear. Click the Developer tab.
  3. Delete logfiles.

If you don't know, Stratux has a host of informational webpages, such as what's described above.  To get to them while connected to your Stratux, navigate your web browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.) to 192.168.10.1

Once there you can see what options are turned on (UAT, ES, GPS, etc), GPS accuracy, Traffic being seen, tower count, and more.  It is here that you can easily upgrade the Stratux software with a new version when available.  If you're going to have a Stratux or really ANY device with you in the cockpit, it's advisable to know as much as you can about its operation.

Jeff,

If I already have a "full" or corrupted card, is it too late to save it by deleting the logs?

I just do not know...probalby willing to try, but if it is not possible, I will not waste the time.

Thanks. Mike

The Pi board has two lights on it, green and red, side by side.  The red light should always be on, and indicates an adequate power supply.  Once Stratux boots up, the green light is controlled by the Stratux software.  Stratux keeps it on SOLID when everything is fine, and does a steady blink when it detects something wrong.  If your card was doing a STEADY blink, then the card is not corrupted but rather something is going on that Stratux doesn't like.  I forget what all can cause the blink, but the most obvious is the disk becoming full.  The steps above will fix that problem.

One way to DEFINITELY tell that Stratux is working is to connect to the Stratux and navigate a browser to 192.168.10.1 and view its webpage.  You might get a hint of the issue just by looking there.  Besides, you'll want to know how to navigate those pages so that when an update comes out that fixes any issues, you'll be able to apply the update to your system.

More about the green light: If Stratux is NOT booting up properly, the green light defaults to the normal state of blinking during disk access activity.  So be sure to make a distinction between a STEADY (Stratux) blink, and a intermittent/random blink (Stratux failed to boot).

Jeff,

Thank you very much. Your knowledge of this (and many other) systems is amazing.

I learn so much from this site - thanks to you and many of the others - great job offering your time to do this.

The information about both the lights and what they are telling us when they are steady or flashing is extremely helpful - never knew any of that!

I will try repairing the card as you outlined and we will see what happens.

Again, many thanks!
