I have a Stratus3 as well.  Initially, in order for iFly to connect to the Stratus3 and display the informaiton, the Stratus3 needs to be in "Open ADSB" mode.  I thought that iFly wsa supposed to start setting that automatically, but I don't know for sure.

The one way I know to set the Open ADSB switch to "ON" is to install the "Stratus Horizon Pro" app on an iDevice, connect to the Stratus3 and set the switch.  I further think it will remain set to "ON" unless an iDevice running ForeFlight connects to your Stratus3, apparently ForeFlight automatically sets the Open ADSB switch to OFF.  Also you can only run either ForeFlight, or any of the oter apps that require Open ADSB, not both at the same time.

As far as I know, the Stratus Horizon Pro app can be had for free, and is ONLY available for newer iPad, iPhone, & iPods.

You do need to make sure that your s3 is in "open ads/b" mode thru the stratus horizon pro app - are you running v11? That should be switched over automatically with the latest build.

In regards to fis-b, you have to be in line of sight with a tower. I know around DFW it's approximately 800-1200 AGL to start receiving wx in flight.

So I am running an Android device not an IOS device, but I need an IOS device to put my brand new Stratus 3 into Open ADSB mode so I can use it on my Samsung tablet? I don't have an IOS device to do this with. This is very frustrating. How do I get iFly to work on my Samsung tablet with my Stratus 3?

I went to the airport today and one of my missions was to see if my iFly740 would automatically enable the "Open ADSB" mode in my Stratus3.  It didn't do it automatically, and there wasn't an obvious switch to accomplish that task.

Based on that, the only way to turn the Open ADSB switch to ON, is with an iDevice.  Perhaps another pilot at the airport would be willing to load the app on his iPhone and flip the switch.  It seems to stay on through a shutdown of the Stratus3, unless someone uses ForeFlight on your Stratus3.

This is a function of Appareo/Stratus.  Have you looked on line to see if they have finally produced a non Apple app for the Horizon Pro?  I know they didn't a year or so ago.  I have iDevices, so I have no reason to check on something else.  If they haven't made a Horizon Pro app for your device, you might rattle their cage.  If enough of you complain, including, and especially, those that WOULD have purchased a Stratus except for their catering to the iCrowd.
