Our school has about a dozen aircraft - all at least ADSB out. However, one aircraft (N347ME), which is just ADSB-out, routinely fails to show up on my display (using the Stratux).

So, today, I'm flying with a CPL student who has Foreflight on an iPad, but is connected to my Stratux. I'm seeing all traffic except 7ME. He sees 7ME all the time. How is this possible. Trust me, I checked my tablet microscopically!! It did not show on mine, but did on his!

If 7ME was flying so close as to be mistaken as a ghost image then that could explain it (if ForeFlight happens to be less picky about ghosts than iFly).

If not that (and I assume it's not), then since the Stratux is obviously putting out traffic data about 7ME I would suggest you check the filtering settings you have in iFly: Menu | Setup | Alerts & Warnings | Traffic Alerts.  In that menu, check what you have set for "Set Alert Thresholds", "Distance Visibility", and "Vertical Clearance Visibility".

7ME was well away, mostly. I'm used to seeing ghosts - often see us following ourselves!! :-)

It's not filtering either. I didn't see it, but they came pretty close to us at one point (close enough to make my student, who could see it, veer away sharply) and at our exact height. Still nada on my tablet. A little concrening.

Yes, I agree, it is concerning.  This situation corresponds with my experience that not all traffic is showing on my display either -- even though I'm transmitting ADS-B Out, am at 2000' or higher within a few miles of an ADS-B ground tower, have antennas for both 1090 and 978 frequencies, and the aircraft I'm eyeballing is also high enough to be seen by radar (and within radar distance of SeaTac) and well within my iFly filtering parameters.  This is an all-too-frequent occurence for me.

Maybe you can be a test case, if you can recreate this situation (and it sounds like you can) with ADS-B logging turned on.  But I'll let Brian speak to that.

I think I did have logging on. Where do I find the file to DL or send?
