Anyone else have this problem? Downloads for new data take forever and keep starting / stopping. Sometimes won't connect. Not wifi issue, everything else fine. Maybe server issue?

It's running fast from Indiana, right now.   Can you try again, see if it's still slow?

If so, please do "Menu => About => Send Bug Report" so that I can see your log and look for other clues.
