Is there any way to overlay satellite imagery either over or instead of the sectional chart? 

Basically, I got into ballooning recently and use iFly for that now as well as my fixed wing flying, however when looking at potential launch and landing sites during flight planning a satellite image would be better than the sectional to have a better idea of what is downwind. I can use google earth but I find it easier to use the distance and bearing tool in iFly and thought I would ask if it is something I am missing or if it is possible with some kind of KML file or something. 

If not I will just keep doing it the way I have been, I just got the idea seeing someone doing it on Motion-X and wondered if it was possible on iFly since Moxion-X isn't available on Android and I refuse to buy an Ipad.

It's a nifty idea, but the imagery data may be a challenge.  Much of iFly's usage is while not actively connected to the Internet, so data would need to be stored locally on the device.  Depending on the desired resolution that could be a lot of data.  There may also be a licensing challenge.  Google's pretty generous about allowing its satellite imagery to be used in web apps, but may not be so generous in sharing it for standalone use.  Google's not the only imagery supplier, of course, but I doubt anybody's giving it away for free.
