I sent this ticket in directly, but am posting here, too:

Have you been receiving any complaints of Winds Aloft display being erroneous?

I haven't changed my setup at all (latest iFly on an ASUS tablet with XGPS170) but suddenly Winds Aloft is never correct either in real world conditions (the last couple flights) or compared against

https://aviationweather.gov/products/nws/boston?fint=06&lvl=lo

For instance, last night we did a flight from NW Ohio to near Pittsburgh. The aloft winds were clearly from the west at around 25 knots. I know this as the .gov site confirmed it and drudging up to toledo at 95 knots and sailing back at 120 knots confirmed it.

However, the display in iFly was flat out wrong. It showed for Cleveland with speeds in the 50+ knot range with directions all over the place, none of which out of the west.

Refreshing sometimes changed all the numbers, sometimes not. Never were they accurate.

The last couple flights have been just as erroneous. This is a new development. The used to be spot on.

I wish I took screenshots, but didn't. Just want to know if you're aware of this? Maybe the software isn't parsing the numbers correctly from wherever they're retrieved from?

.................. Also, I am still having the groundspeed display issue (sits at 128mph regardless of actual groundspeed). Sorry, I just haven't had time to get into the bugfixing instructions you sent me.

Hi. I just did a check today to validate our winds against the gov site, and all still looks correct here.

Here is iFly's screen for 1 hr from now, at 12,000 ft.

And here's the winds aloft for 12K from aviationweather.gov, which matches it.

Perhaps the iFly winds data was not fresh/updated? (we hold onto it for 30 hrs, which is the duration of the forecast itself). So maybe it was just old data, and the forecast was wrong?

We'll get to the bottom of this, and fix any bugs or sources of confusion.

I just checked myself and it's correct across the board against:

https://aviationweather.gov/windtemp/data?level=l&fcst=06®ion=bos&layout=off

Couple days ago, though, it was showing 50+ knots at 3000' - no way it was that fast.

Side note: how do I get the scrollable widget button on the main screen for winds aloft like in your first screen shot?

Ooops, I just realized that this wasn't the beta forums. My screenshot is from 9.4, coming in a couple months, which includes Winds Aloft on the map.

Well if it was wrong before, but now is accurate, it's possible that the data was just old. I'll check our code to make sure we're expiring old Winds Aloft correctly. If you pay much attention to Winds, you're going to love 9.4.

I just noticed your note about "groundspeed stuck at 128mph". Can you please do the following for me before your next flight.

1. Start iFly (before takeoff)

2. Menu => About => Connected Devices => Wireless Device => Enable Logging (check the box)

3. Fly your flight.

4. Make note if it sticks at 128mph while in flight.

5. Upon Landing, take your device to closest WiFi, and connect to internet.

6. Restart iFly, then do "Menu => About => Send Bug Report => Select Log => Select "AdsbRaw.Bin" and send.

From this log, I'll be able to replay your entire flight and see what is happening with the ground speed. We have plenty of pilots using the XGPS170, but so far, none have reported an issue with ground speed. But with that Log, I should be able to pinpoint the root cause, and possibly provide a fix for it.
