I've filed, canceled, and flown lots of flight plans with iFly, and never gotten an email from LM regarding a flight. Perhaps it's an optional setting with your account on the LM website.

I have sent these concerns to LMFS, and will post back their response asap. If they don't support it already, I've put in the request that they add support for getting email notifications.

Sorry, I should have prefaced my reply with the statement that I do not use LM for filing, so I don't know what services LM provides directly.

Perhaps a better (or additional) solution than using FlightAware.com, as you suggested, is to have the option for iFly to file and cancel flight plans with DUATS rather than LM.


Perhaps. The way I see it, the "ask LM" (or DUATS) approach involves someone else taking action to get the desired result, and may only work if LM (or DUATS) is used for filing, whereas the FlightAware approach is something I can control myself, and it already works today regardless of whether my plan is filed with LM or via another method. You may see it differently.

Here is the response from LMFS regarding emails.

To be clear, we don’t send emails on filing. We send emails upon acceptance by ATC. So, filing or amending (IFR only) flight plans results in an email being sent if ATC Notices has been selected in your profile (www.1800wxbrief.com).

And, yes you can pass along that we are considering adding more email confirmations based on iFly customer feedback.

In short, we've been heard and they are actively requesting approval for adding more email notifications for other event types.
