Just figured this out myself. I thought my very old ELT was having issues as every time I went into a steep turn, it would trigger but then mysteriously reset. The failure was too predictable though so I looked elsewhere. Magically, at the same time, a 'horizon' would pop up on my IPad (with the mute option, of course). Ah ha! Issue solved.
