I have iFly on my PC in the hangar which I use for flight planning and on a 740b in the plane.  I currently pull the SD card from the 740 and update via ifly connect.  So often I am doing two complete and seprate downloads of updated database info on the same day on the same computer.  My internet connection at the hangar is a pretty slow hot spot so not only is this slow but it consumes twice the data.  Don't suppose there is a way to just download to the PC version and copy to the SD card or vice versa?

Thanks.

I realize this doesnt answer your question exactly, but if you have a hot spot connection, why not connect via WiFi directly to the 740b? At least that would avoid the time to pull the card and use the computer.

Of course this wont save any data usage but it would save time and aggravation. wouldnt it?

Or perhaps I am missing something?

I'm guessing he would need to turn on the master and avionics master and use the airplane's battery power to download directly to the iFly device.  He probably plugs the computer into 110v in the hanger.

Alasdair,

If you are geeky, you can do this yourself.  Update your Windows computer first, then copy the data manually from your data drive C:\_iFlyGPSData\[subfolder] folders to the SD card.  Just don't mess with anything in the \User or \Navi folders on the SD card.

If you have an iPhone, I have found that the Sandisk Mini works well for getting the latest weather, TFR's, and monthly updates.

The Mini works by downloading from the phone then use the USB to update iFly.

I've found downloading from the iPhone works better with Firefox.

You will have to use the Create an Update Package and download the zip file to the root of the USB drive to update on the iFly.
