Hello...

I'm in the process of working on the installation of an iFly 740b in my airplane.  I have two NMEA devices I'd like to talk to the iFly -- a TruTrak Digiflight IIVS autopilot, and a Dynon D100 EFIS.  I have access to the two wires, one from the AP (that was previously connected to a Garmin 496) and the other from the EFIS.  I need to know the best way to get the iFly to talk to both devices.  Would the DB9 Breakout Board make this easier?

As far as I can see, the iFly does both TX and RX on a single wire, connected to pin 3, with a ground wire to pin 5.  Is it permissible to splice the wires together and plug both the EFIS and AP into pin 3, or would there be device crosstalk that could/would cause issues?  Is there a better way?

Any assistance on this is appreciated.

I have the same arrangement in my RV7 & just spliced them together. It’s worked fine for the last 7 years.  Bob
