Searched thru the forums for this but didn't find anything.

I use my 720 as a GPS in my car as well. I want to update the maps and have purchased a USB cable to connect the 720 to my computer. Seems my computer is not seeing my 720. Is this a normal USB A to USB A cable or is it something that DARPA has to put together for me?

Michael,

The iFly does not currently direct connect to a PC with a cable, our USB port is a host port to be used for driving an autopilot or connecting to an ADSB device. You can update your iFly software by removing the SD card and inserting it into your PC. The Aviation software/data can be updated with a current subscription using our iFly Connect updater, found under the Updates tab on this site.

The iFly Streets software was co-developed and must be updated by putting the SD card into a PC and downloading the naviextras toolkit from naviextras.com. This is what you'll use to update the street software. It is a separate charge to update. It's a pretty straight forward update, but you'll need to create and account with them and login. I hope this helps.

It does help. Wish it would have said somewhere that this was the case. Now, in hooking the memory card to the computer thru an adapter, my computer sees the adapter but not the card. This is the card I was sent in purchasing the road map upgrade for the unit. I've also written Naviextras about their program not allowing me to log in and telling me that my device is not connected. All-around hassle. Love the moving map aircraft side of the unit, but updating the road maps is becoming next to impossible.

Michael,

Can you check to make sure the SD Reader supports SDHC, some only work with the older SD cards? If you put your SD card in the Reader, you should be able to see the SD card in the "Computer" section as a removable disc or drive. If you are not seeing the card at all, it may be that you have an older SD only reader that does not support SDHC. HC is "High Capacity".

Additionally, once we get your card to be seen by your PC, we could potentially remote in and walk you through a streets update. We have that capability to drive your pc remotely, with your approval of course.

First step is make sure the SD card is being seen. Let us know what you find out here. You might try picking up a USB to SD Card Reader like below, I know it will work. Again, I'm sorry for the frustration you are having, but I believe we can get it all resolved for you.
