That's good to hear. I'm glad it's working now. As for initializing the two, it is best to turn the Clarity or other ADS-B on first as it typically takes about 30 seconds for that unit to startup and/or initialize. Once that ADS-B or AHRS unit is on, now power on the iFly and proceed.

Take note, if Clarity updates so it powers on once it senses power or if you have another device like the iLevil or Levil AHRS, SkyRadar or NavWorx that comes on with power, and the iFly and that device simultaneously power on. In that case, wait for the other device to initialize, typically about 30 seconds or so, then just tap the Navigation button on the iFly and proceed.

Greetings All,

First in flight report of Clarity SV and iFly 720. I'm based in central Ohio so I was not sure we would get any weather but I am pleased to report we did! Sorry no picts, but we got multiple small cell echos all in green but they were there and wwe could see some precip in the clouds. The 1090 ADS-B was showong multiple targets (all way above us but still there) The AHRS was not calibrated for wings level and I thought I was tapping the button correctly but upon returning to the ground and trying it from home realized I was only doing the data burst. We will try an in flight relevel tomorrow weather permitting.

I did get an error at home after releveling the Clarity. It lost the wifi connection after the first attempt. We went to the wifi page on the iFly and found 2 Clarity networks one active and one inactive. We disconnected the one that we could and connected the other, waited a minute and relaunched the iFly. We then releveled the Clarity 6 - 7 times in different attitudes and had no problem. Still not sure what caused this but it would be a nightmare in actual instrument conditions to have to diddle around and go through the multiple steps and relaunches to correct it.

While typing this I just got an AHRS device not connected message while level on the instrument panel page. The system was running approximately 15 minutes. I exited the iFly app and went to the wifi page. There were 2 Clarity networks listed again one with a (pre) and one without. I deleted the (pre) one and connected the other one and relaunched the navigation program. Went to the instrument page and everything is OK again. So I guess there is some type of communications error between the Clarity SV and the iFly 720. I will contact Shane on Monday to discuss.

I am still getting the weather (ADSB online, no data) promt in the select map mode menu. Not sure if this helps the diagnosis.

Even with the issues all I can say is...WOW! When the bugs are worked out this is going to allow for much safer IFR operations by far!

Hope this helps...

Paul

Paul and other Sagetech Clarity or Stratus-2nd Gen owners:
I haven't seen any recent posts with follow-up information about resolving the teething problems between the Clarity and the iFly 720. I would like to know if any progress has been made.
Also, has anyone tried the 2nd Gen Stratus with a 720 and can give a PIREP? The Stratus-2 sure has Clarity-SV's price beat a mile for comparable features. I'm just curious to hear from owners about how these two ADS-B receivers are working with our iFlys. Thanks. ===Ralph

Greeting Ralph,

I have been in contact with Sagetech and Shane at Adventure Pilot regarding issues over operation of the 2 devices together. Both companies are commited to resolving all items. I am impressed by the quick response and open exchange of information I have recieved and would make the same purchases again based on these interactions.

All that said, there are still bugs to work out and I will report as they are corrected.

Paul

Paul: Thanks for the response. I presume you have seen by now that the FAA has turned on en route ADS-B throughout the Indianapolis (ZID) and Memphis ARTCCs, which means we now have full ADS-B coverage everywhere in Ohio. Hence my renewed interest in purchasing a receiver. Looking forward to reading your future progress posts ==== Ralph
