I vote for WAAS. Every little bit helps. As I recall the Lowrance 2000C was WAAS enabled. It indicated with a tiny sun (ok or whatever that was). There was a bit of improvement in location when it was active.

I am in agreement with the WAAS enhancement but one of Walters comments are sticking in my brain. That being that it would take much longer to aquire a signal and much easier to loose said signal. Also the need for an exernal antennacomes to mind. I guess if the iFly would aquire the non WAAS signal and give me navigation while aquiring the WAAS enhanced signal I would be fine with that change. If I am not going to be able to navigate while the unit is trying to aquire the WAAS signal then I might not be so enthusiactic about it.

If it can give me a reliable non WAAS while aquiring WAAS and simply display a W when WAAS is active in the cooner then go for it. Otherwise I won't want to give up my non WAAS navigation.

Did I put enough confusion into that comment!!!!!

And what happened to my power user lable? Hrumph!!!

I'm not instrument rated, but I think there are other uses for WAAS than instrument approaches and driving ADS-B-Out. Even my $100 hiking GPS is WAAS capable, and doesn't seem to take very long to acquire a position with WAAS enabled. If I'm on the ground, off airport, and I need help to get to me ASAP, the more accurate the location I can provide, the better.

Edited for brevity ...My crappy old Anywhere map Ipaq had the same sirf gps chipset and even it had waas .
With pre flight weather loaded on the ifly and terrain why are you concerned about Waas . I think taking a weather snapshot on the ground before taking off when weather is dynamic should be more of a concern than waas .
If I lose aircraft electrical IFR it would be nice to have a waas capable gps ( battery backup ) and my handheld radio in a pinch .

AP .. you need to read your own FAQS page regarding waas where it mentions in future releases users could enable waas .
That being said if waas is not in the future I think it should be clarified .
