I have not been able to determine which ADSB receivers will work with a 720 via WiFi. I would like something that will be compatible with the 720 and also an Ipad (if I ever get one). Is there an approved list?

Jerry,

So far we are working with the SkyRadar units L-Model, S2 and D2. We are also currently working with SageTech to be compatible with their upcoming Clarity devices. NavWorx recently added a Wi-Fi module to connect with their units and we are waiting on a development device to test compatibility with the NavWorx units.

We are also working with Sporty's and Appareo to develop compatibility with the Stratus, however at this time they are "exclusive" to the iPad and ForeFlight. Conversations indicate that they will likely open this up in the near future.

Over the next few months you should be seeing a fair amount on new ADS-B receivers come to the market. It is our goal to connect with these new devices, however cooperation from the makers of these device is critical to our development. I hope this helps.

Wayne,

Nothing is really needed other than the SkyRadar L-Model. Once you turn both units on, you connect the 720 to the SkyRadar with the WiFi Setup. You should really only need to perform this once. Once they are connected, they we begin transmitting data provided you are in range and have an ADS-B signal. You should see ADS-B Live or No Data in the Menu. I hope this helps.

Alexey at SkyRadar has indicated that the new batch of L-Models will include the FTDI chip set that the S2 and D2 models include. The current L-Model looks to not support a serial out or wired connection needed to work with the iFly 700. SkyRadar told us that there was no changes to the USB hardware, however this has proven to not be the case. We requested and tested the L-Model on the 700 and 720 internally and found that the USB port would not connect to the iFly 700 or a Windows PC.

Here is a response from SkyRadar..."we decided to simplify life for everybody and use old tried and true chipsets on the newer batches of the devices. This will not break compatibility with platforms that already have built in drivers for FTDI."

At this time it looks like you would need to get a L-Model from their new batch in order to use with the iFly 700. That would then intern function with the iPad and iFly 720 via Wi-Fi. I hope this helps.

Shane, you said:
"You should see ADS-B Live or No Data in the Menu."

Which screen or menu is that on the iFly 700?

Thanks,

S. Morgan
