SD card  Modified By kevin lane on 5/20/2021 5:23:22 PM

i bought some extra SD HC cards, SanDisk Ultraplus, 16gb, 80mb/s.  iConnect doesn't recognize it when i insert it in my win10 desktop, despite the desktop having no issues.  i formatted it to FAT32 [default] but that made no difference.  will these newer SD cards work, or do I need to buy something marked SD MMC?  I tried  copying a jpeg to the new SD card and that works fine.  what am i missing?

iFly Connect detects SD cards that are configured with iFly software and data.  That's intended to help ensure the potentially-ginormous amounts of iFly data go to the right place and don't waste your time and cause confusion by inadvertently getting put onto a random USB thumbdrive or getting mixed up with pictures of the grandkids on your camera's SD card.

To set up a new card, take an existing iFly SD card and copy its contents over to the new cards.  (If you don't have a way to access two SD cards simultaneously, or if you're going to set up multiple new cards, it may be best to copy the iFly SD card contents to your PC's hard drive, then from the hard drive to the new SD card(s).)

Make sure you copy the files (so the original SD card is unchanged)--don't move them (where the files are deleted from the original SD card during the process).

Once the new SD cards have the iFly data on them, iFly Connect will recognize them and allow you to update them.

so i copied my working SD card to a backup drive and then to the new SD card.  ifly recognized it , however failed during update.  here is the msg along with the top level of files that are on the backup SD.  i copied and pasted them all in one operation, so that i wouldn't skip any.

after getting this error i reran the iconnect and was back to the "no SD card recognized" error.   seems to me that there must be some system files that need to exist on the SD and that copying all the map data shouldn't matter since i tell it which states i want stored on the SD card.  it would be much easier to copy a few system files than 16 gigs of data.  so why can't i make a second backup SD card?

I don't know.  Perhaps a call to customer service would be in order.
