I know it has been discussed on the forum but I've seen so much about the SkyRadar that I've confused myself. What specifically do I need to order from Radenna to make the IFly weather and traffic capable? Do I order the full SkyRadar system or just the receiver? Do I order the single-band or dual-band receiver? I want to ensure that I get the proper components for the IFly since I hope to order the SkyRadar within the next two or three months.

Both SkyRadar receivers will give you weather...I'm not sure what the difference is between the single and dual receiver; couldn't find a description on their site. But to get traffic you need a transceiver, which Radenna does not yet have. If you have a few months, and traffic is a requirement, I'd take a look at Navworx. We haven't formally announced compatibility with their transceivers but we had a customer take an iFly to their lab and they said it all worked fine. We're hoping to get one of there units to do some more testing once they start shipping. Of course, price of a transceiver is a lot more than a receiver...but it's the only way you can depend on traffic data.

Walter,

I saw the post from the customer who tried out the NavWorx box. I did go to their website and look at their unit also but I was hesitant about it since you all had not mentioned that you had confirmed it as compatible. What about the Zaon XRX? Are you all considering it for use with the iFly? I guess I'm more concerned about traffic than weather so I'd like to see the Zaon become compatible since it's such a low cost unit. I may buy one of those anyway even if it can't be linked to the iFly.

Zaon is on the todo list...but we don't have a date for that.
