I got an ifly700 for Christmas -- just what I wanted! I registered and read the manual. Today (Dec. 26) I put in a flight plan to see how it works. My flight plan started and ended at my home airport (KHWY) and had four waypoints. My problem was that I couldn't get the iFly GPS to lead me through the 5 legs of my flight plan. I completed the flight by steering the plane to follow the magenta lines on the map, but the ball/triangle guide only worked on the final leg, heading straight for home. Also none of the useful data (distance to waypoint, distance to destination) didn't appear.

I must have missed some simple step to activiate my flight plan before departing. I assume that it will lead me easily from waypoint to waypoint if I operate it correctly. Was the fact that I did a single round trip flight plan confusing for it?

I'm sure there is an easy solution. Thanks.

I don't know, Richard. I very seldom return to my home base on the same flight plan. If I do I just reverse my out going flight plan. Try deleting the last leg of your round trip flight plan and then try flying it again. I hope that it will work for you then. - Jim

Richard,

This is a documented issue that we will be fixing. Your target waypoint is determined by your proximity to a route line...so circle trips can sometimes confuse the iFly. There are a few easy workarounds for this. You could wait until you are underway a little bit then add the final leg of your plan. Or anytime the iFly selects the wrong waypoint you can touch the correct waypoint and select "Direct to this Waypoint". Sorry for the inconvenience...as I said we'll be fixing this issue.

Thanks,
Walter

Could you just add a waypoint a few miles from your start and program the return to that point ?

It would not be your home point but within sight of it and mybe not confuse the GPS ?

Richard,

I have experienced this too. Regarding the "useful data" disappearing, a trick I use (but I thought this got fixed in newer software versions) is to list final destination twice at the end of the flight plan.

The issue seems to be the "Distance to Next Waypoint" data (and similar data) shuts down for the final leg of the flight plan. You need to turn on "Distance to Final Waypoint" for the last leg... or do as I suggest above.

Good luck!

Dan
