Just purchased (and received) an iFly700. I want to route NMEA data out to a laptop PC. Two questions: (1) Is the USB to Serial converter you sell standard or proprietary ? (2) How do I re-convert the Serial output from the iFly700 back to USB for input to my laptop ? (Do I use another Serial to USB converter ?) Please advise.

1) It is not proprietary, however that does not mean every converter will work. There are different chipsets and versions of chipsets, not all are supported on the iFly.

2) Correct; if your computer doesn't have a serial port you'll need another USB to Serial cable. In addition you may need a null-modem adapter to connect the two serial cables together.

Thank You! I'll try that.

One more question: Does the iFly700 output NMEA data continuously OR only when it has achieved a fix ??? Not getting an output from my USB to DB9 Serial converter.

Only if there is a lock. However you can turn on GPS Simulation mode - in addition to letting you pretend to fly around on your iFly, this will pump simulated NMEA data through cable.
