Obviously I do not know the technical intricacies of integrating maps into the app but in case it is something that may be of interest here is some info.

Just like the FAA, The mexican DGAC publishes WAC and Sectional Charts on PDF and here are the links in case you think it may make sense to build them into the app. I would definitely use them.

WAC:

Sectional:

Hi David,

Thanks for posting.  These maps are not georeferenced, so quite a bit more work to encorporate them.  But not impossible.  The first one I downloaded shows expired in 2016, do you know if these are continually being published?  Or is this really the latest version?

Thanks,

Walter

Hi Walter,

The link is the mexican equivalent to the FAA so those are the current charts. They are the second edition and were published in 2016 but they're still current. Scheduled to be updated by mid 2020 but there is no certainty that they will be updated and published on time. The legend on the Guadalajara - Culiacán WAC Chart 1:1'000,000 (attached) reads: "This chart will become obsolete upon publication of the next edition scheduled approximately within four years." That means whatever work you do will be good for at least a year and a half.

Right now, CH 23 covers Northeast Mexico. Brownsville and some Sectional Charts also cover a good part of northern Mexico. They are better in many respects than their mexican equivalents and I'm super happy with them. CH22 used to cover Baja and Northwest Mexico. The last version of that was published in 2017 but I'm personally quite happy having that last version of CH22 in the app as well.

I fly quite a bit south of CH22 and 23, mainly to Veracruz, Villahermosa, Puerto Vallarta, Oaxaca, etc. Hopefully the app could have the mexican maps south of CH22 and CH23. They will be current at least through mid 2020 and will be much better than the Vector Map. Also, most of the navaids, airports and obstacles are already there except for a few things here and there so those charts would be a great feature if it is feasible to incorporate them.

Cheers,

David
