I see that there are separate Forums for iPad and Android, but not one for the Windows version yet. Looks like a moderator needs to set that up, so I will post here under General Discussions for now.
First off.. Thank you, thank you, thank your for putting this awesome software and in particular for putting it in Windows version. I have been using a Windows tablet (with a pixel Qi screen) for that last several years. The software I was using (Essential flight with a Navworx ADS-600) is no longer in business and I can no longer get updates, but did not want to give up my Pixel Qi screen by moving to Android or iPad (not to mention all the wiring). When the windows version came out someone suggested iFly so I installed it. I have estensively used at least a half dozen brands of aviation GPS(ADS-B) software and iFly is BY FAR the best. Flight planning, map options and customization, intigration of approach plates, traffic depiction, ease of reference of support info (such as the info in the margins of the maps or facility directorys and fuel prices) is all top notch and no other software comes close to those high marks in all those catogories.
Alas, I am having a connection problem with the windows version. Sometimes, it starts up just fine and connects to the Navworx without issue and I am a happy pilot. But sometimes it just will not find the Navworx tranciever. During such times, I can close iFly and open up my old Charlflier software which will quickly connect to the Navworx. So I know it is not a problem with the navworx delivering a valid data stream to my tablet. I am using a USB cable into my tablet but I get the impression that iFly keeps looking for a Wifi connection. I have no explanation for why it sometimes manages to correctly find the Serial port, but usually not. I do not see a way in the iFly software for me to specify that the ADS-B connection is on Comm 3, which I am guessing would solve the problem.
Is there something I can do to help guided iFly to find the link on Comm 3? Perhaps a windows setting I can make? Or is there some menu I am missing somewhere within the iFly software? Frustraing to not be able to use this great software because it wont connect regularly.
The other issue I am having is with it remembering my subscription. I paid for a full subscription and properly regestered my tablet, but every now and then it reverts bact to telling me that my "trial subscription" will end in 30 days, or that my trial subscription has ended. When that happens, I cannot use the software at all until I get back in Wifi range and am able to log on again. This may have something to do with the naming of my computer based on my internet provider because each time I have to go find Wifi to log in and verify my subscription it names my computer something different. The names it gives (under Menu>About>MyAccount) is something like: uvruvjrejhh. But like I said, that device name seems to change and may be why it is not recognizing my subscription.
Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks!
