Interesting leisure-time reading from AOPA. For situational awareness, the vertical profile window in iFly gives you a pretty good indication of when and where you'll enter/exit airspaces during a climb or descent. Just remember that the GPS altitude in iFly will not exactly match the altimeter's altitude.

Yep. I use it all the time to avoid airspace. (And mountains.) However, I've noticed that the vertical course line is very "noisy" in that it wanders up and down quite a bit in flight, even with WAAS. And even in straight and level flight. (Can post a video of it in S&L if anyone would like.)

It's more like having an Instantaneous VSI than a conventional (slow) one. I would like a (user selectable?) way to damp out the VP response to more like a 5 second sample time.

And you all say ... ?

I agree the vertical course line is far too sensitive to be very usefull. I second the motion to have some way to desensitize it.

I would agree that the vertical course line should be less sensitive.

I concur. I myself have been desensitied to the vertical course line because it is so noisy.
