I just want all of the readers to know of my experience with the Skyguard Vision Pro unit.
I installed it about a year ago and was very happy with it's performance. About 2 monts ago I received a letter stating that the unit would need to be returned for modifications and update - I would receive a follow up notice with a RMA in the future. Sure enough, the notice came, I removed the unit and returned it to Skyguard. I receiced the modified unit back in about a week!
I installed the unit along with a new GPS antenna ( the GPS receiver was replaced during the mod.) All appeared to work well in the hangar and on the first flight.
I received my FAA compliance report with 3 "red" areas of concern.
I called Don at Skyguard who was able to quickly trace the problem to the auto connect feature of my Ifly 740 unit. With him walking me through the entire checkout on the ground, everything worked great.
I again flew a short flight and am happy to report that the problems appear to be solved.
I don't think that Don knows that I retired from a Texas airline after 35 years of service, Line mechanic, Foreman, and finally Maint. control/ tech. service.
Having worked with hundreds of mechanics, pilots and vendors, I can say that Don is a stand up guy with a great product.
I reccomend his product and put it on a par with the Adventure pilot organization.
