METARS

Am I missing something in the translation or what? I haven't the foggiest idea what the forum members are talking about with "METARS". What gives with METARS and the IFly 700? I know what METARS are but did not know the IFly could access weather.

When downloading updates for your iFly you will get metars for that specific time. If you update and fly immediately they would be of assistance but if you update at home and then fly later they would be less valid. If I recall, my unit is not here, you hold your finger on an airport which opens a menu of information including the metars.

Hi Desert Flyer,

That is correct. When you download a update package from our website, you will notice the TFR and Metar box is automatically checked. This way at the time of download, you have the latest TFRs and Metar data for the entire US. You can update your iFly from your Home, Office or even most FBO's. That is what I do so I have the latest TFR and Metar data just prior to flight. Of course, you always want to contact "flight briefing" prior to flight in the event of any pop=up information.
