Here's how to build a progressive color electronic checklist so you don't have to use those blah .txt files:

Put each checklist phase on it's own word page in large type (and color!), then scan the printed pages as pictures (.jpeg). You can put those images on a flash USB drive and have an easy to read electronic checklist. Just advance slide by slide as you go from BEFORE START to START, TAKEOFF, and etc. Works great and is easy to pop back and forth to the NAVIGATION page. I have so far done it only for my normal checklist, I'll tackle the Emergency checklist next. I'm also going to put tabulated performance charts on the dedicated ultra tiny USB drive I bought just for this purpose. I leave it plugged in all the time. It doesn't stick out as far to the side as a regular USB drive.

You can get the checklist phases into the proper order by naming them a, b, c, etc.

Bob,

Since you mentioned using a second USB drive, are you planning to remove the original USB drive while you go down your checklist and then re-install the original drive to use the moving map display?

Have you figured out how to "mark" (check-off) the completed items as you go down the list?

I happened to see this and just wanted to make sure you knew that once you do an update with the USB drive, you can remove it for the iFly, thus opening it up to your secondary USB for your checklist. You could actually keep those checklist on the same USB provided it is not to large. I can't imagine it would be. Just some food for thought.

Richard,

As Shane said, you don't have to keep the USB drive in place once you've done your upgrade/download. However, as near as I can figure, you must keep the USB in place to use the images of the checklist. So if you are on the image page, you just quit and go back to Navigation; and, vice-versa. Works good - have not figured out how to check items off. Also, the remote doesn't work to advance the checklist, you must use the touchscreen.
