Greetings everyone,

I just released iFly software version 5. If you own an iFly, you may download it now. If you are purchasing an iFly it will come with the latest version.

Regarding the new NMEA feature (aka, Autopilot output), you will need a USB to Serial cable to use this feature. We will have those on our store in a couple of weeks. There is a known issue with this feature: The NMEA sentence that specifies course tracking appears to not be functioning. The auto-pilot interface is working fine for maintaining heading and altitude, but it's not tracking to the waypoints specified in the iFly. We are working on a fix for this problem and will have another release as soon as possible to correct this.

All of the remaining new features are working fine. Our manual is not yet updated. So if you like to "read the book" before playing with the features, I advise you to wait and update your device after the new manual is prepared.

I look forward to hearing your feedback.

Thanks!
Walter

Hi Walter,
I just got version five and it really is a big improvement. However, I could bring up "airport information" only one time and all other attempts nothing would come up. Went back to the airport that did work and nothing. When I did get it to appear it is a great format.

Thanks,
Lee

Lee,

Please reboot your iFly and try again. If you continue to have this problem let me know. This has not been an issue with me or the beta testers...however I did have a report of this issue happening after viewing dozens of airports in a short period of time. So this may not have been a total fluke.

Another thing that would help me debug this: If you have a way of reading an SD card, you could e-mail me the "exceptions.log" file from the User folder - I could try and pinpoint the source of this problem.

Thanks!
Walter

Lee, by the way, what airport was it that you first viewed?

Walter,
I just got back to it and they do come up now. I started with Pampa, Texas ( ppa ) when I had the problem. I downloaded the exceptions log but can't figure how to send it to you. I think I need an address to send it direct to you.

I downloaded revision five quite by accident as I was updating some charts and I noticed it was doing something before it got to the charts and when I got back to the screen I noticed all these wonderful changes and started exploring. I really like the airport info page.
