Personally, I really like IFly GPS for Android running on a Nexus 7 (2013), mounted with a RAM suction cup mount.

I'm running mine on the very similar ASUS 7" MemoPad but I'm finding that, especially for instrument flight, I'm still liking the full size better.

I purchased a 3 year contract with WingX Pro just before purchasing an additional aircraft with dead pannel mount Lorance 2000 GPS. I purchased a 720 to velcro over the Lorance 2000, thinking it would get me by for that aircraft since the ipad with the WingX would be bulky. I took 3 flights with the 720 using day to day stuff you might need in the program and discovered I had not read the instruction manual, just punched the buttons and it worked for what I needed. NO learning curve. Then I started thinking of any other things I might liket to do, opened the manual, there they were, just did not drill down far enough.

I had that 720 a few years, since when they came on the market. I have used the ipad version of the program since it was on beta test. Screen on ipad 3 is not as easy to read in sunlight. Ipad 3 has been on wifeys lap during long flights and shut down with wingX and iFly because of heat from sunlight. Could have happened at adverse times. And yes, I could also could get by with my android phone version, or used my old G496 or my antique panel mount G430 if I had no alternative. Why make it hard? 720 goes with me on every flight in both planes. (with no instruction manual) and does everything I need.

My 720 died with an internal screen hardware problem on a flight, out of warranty. I made a call to iFly within 3 hours of landing, I had a replacement in my plane within 2 days. I do subscribe to the $20/yr backup ipad/android for emergency backup like I put air in my spare tire about every 6 months also. It is just hard to beat the original. It just works, and yes, IT IS Amazing.

I guess I should do an update to the WingX program in the iPad before the subscription expires for backup, if I can find it. Oh yes, did I mention the price? Could have saved enough money on WingX chart subscriptions to almost purchase a second 720 unit so I do not have to switch back and forth. $110/yr Ifr/vfr or $70 vfr/yr. WingX or FF price? Amazing.
