Are screen shots of the Skyguard UAT Transceiver paired with the 720 available somewhere? Are traffic and weather overlayed over the sections?

Thanks,

Don

We are working on some images of the screen shots. Unfortunatly, there is no good way to capture a screen shot in the air from the 720, when you have live traffic and weather available. We can do so with a PC emulator, but this is on the ground and we have very limited data on this. We'll have some better pics available soon.

As for Weather, we do not currently overlay it on the sectional at this time. It would be overlayed on the Weather Mode, this keeps it clean and un-cluttered. Weather mode is a basemap with Airports, Water features, Airspaces, Terrain, Obstructions. Complimented with the NexRad and Traffic-- it provides a great clean overall picture.

There are just so many colors on the sectional and with Terrain, NexRad and Traffic, it can get muddy. Additionally, we are working on the logic to re-project that radar data out on the sectionals. This is definitely something we are looking at more, as we also look into "stitched charts" as an option in the future. I hope this helps.

I have been looking at the Skyguard, but have been wondering where people have been mounting the box and the antennas. I fly and use my iFly720 in both my Grumman AA-1B and a Cessna 182P. All that stuff and wires up on the panel would look like a mess, and I don't like anything that would block my view. I thought about setting it up under the back window of the 182, but how do you power it? And this does not work for the Grumman. I did not see much about this in the Skyguard manual.

Rich,

There is all sorts of options for mounting it. Some will put it on a GlareShield, some on a rear hat shelf, some even in the back seat. I've spoken with guys who strap it to a side panel.

I personally got an extra blade antenna and I put my transeiver under the rear seat of my 172, then I ran the blade antenna for the Transmit to the rear pilot window, and ran the Receive blade antenna to the rear co-pilot window. This gives me a super clean install and I get the maximum transmit and reception. The iFly 720 and our iPad app (coming soon) communicate with it via Wi-Fi.

They don't put much install instructions in the manual as it really is different in each plane and layout and even to what level of portability you want to maintain. I hope this helps.
