I have a 720 and love it, but often I want simply look at a place or run a string across a chart...

I had looked briefly at Garman's Pilot app for the iPad but just wondering if there is anything that would fit those requirements that I could use on a PC and/or iPad???

Have you considered Golden Eagle FlightPrep? It's free and might meet your needs.

Hi Jim,

Looking at a place should be as easy as swiping and zooming, but perhaps I misunderstand that request. For "running a string" we now have a feature called a Dynamic Distance Ring (see Menu->Setup->Map Settings->Distance Ring) so as you pan around you will see an arc across the map with a label of how far you are from that part of the map. So this sort of does the same thing as a string pegged onto a map. Does this help?

Thanks,
Walter

Hi Walter - I really like your 'Dynamic Distance Circle'. It's great for finding my next fuel stop as I hop around the country. But it's only good for just my next fuel stop. I wish that I could relocate the circle's center so that I could find my second, third, forth, etc. fuel stop. That is, I wish that I could move the circle's center to each of my planed fuel stops with out actually being there. I like to make flight plans days before I start the trip. - Jim Williams
