Finally got to go for a flight with my new iFly. I had it mounted to the lower left side of the windshield in my C172. It blocked some of the guages, so I tried to reposition it while in flight, but it didn't seem to attach to the windshield any higher up. Could be the curvature of the plexiglass, 'cause when I moved it back down close to the bottom of the side of the windshield it held fine.

The iFly worked quite well, I had another GPS running and they matched as I expected. The use of the Sectional as a background is really nice. The sectionals have much of the aviation information needed (airports, VOR's, runway lengths, general runway orientation, AWOS, CTAF, etc.) without having to use deeper menu's and such.

I could see the screen quite well in daylight, but at night even the lowest screen intensity seemed a bit bright. I do like the ability to turn the screen off with the remote while the iFly continues to track my progress.

I thought there was a problem at one point, as the iFly stopped moving the map, and let my plane icon fly completely off screen. I finally figured out that I had touched the screen which cancelled the moving map. A quick push of the "Follow Plane" button and all was well.

While I have my other GPS set to "Track Up", the fact that the iFly only works "North Up" was no problem at all. The plane stayed just far enough over to the side, all the text was easy to read and it was easy enough to figure out which way I needed to go to get back on the magenta line.

Antenna's were easy to notice on the iFly, even without a "Terrain/Obstruction Warning" feature.

All in all I'm happy with the iFly. While there are a lot of features I and others would LIKE to see added to this product, unless I resume flying only within one or two sectional areas, just being able to have current sectional information makes this worth it. The added features are a plus.

I hope I can work with North up only. I didn't realize this limitation when I ordered. :(

Yep...track up is not yet supported, but this will be included in an upcoming software upgarde. I'll keep everyone posted on the 4.0 feature set as it's defined. 3.0 is coming in April - and we try to have a feature release every 3-4 months.

Happy to hear that. I'm sure I'm not the only old guy that gets confused when flying upside down.

BTW, I'd be happy to pay a extra to have IFR enroute charts.
