Sounds like maybe a separate iFly helper application? (Or does iFly want to integrate it in so that, as you descend to pattern altitude, it asks if you want to run thru your landing checklist?)

Personally, I would prefer a written checklist. If Adventure Pilot chooses to make it part of IFly GPS, it could be a button labled "Checklist." From there you would click on the checklist for the appropriate phase of flight. Each checklist item would be numbered and the first item would be highlighted. You would tap each item as you compete it to move down the list. When you have finished with that phase of flight, the next phase is displayed. You would then return to the map until you need to return to the checklist. If enough people want an audible checklist, a voice application would simply read down the list.

Just now thinking about this for the first time, I think I will create a Word Document using my SkyCatcher checklist and store that on my IPad in the iBooks app. Switching back and forth between IFly and iBooks is one button and one tap away. iBooks saves your place in the last document you were using and can accomplish the objective except for the voice part.

Hi Oldpilot,

Take a look at Checkmate, their android app does pretty much what you describe. You can set items to be mandatory to check or not. When mandatory the checklist will not move on to the next item. I use the web app to customize the checklist to my airplane as it's a bit cumbersome to do on a phone or small tablet.

I like your idea of a checklist button or maybe even something similar to the airspace alerts that has a button pop up the pre-landing checklist when you're 3 to 5 miles out. (or at whatever distance you've configured).

I looked at Checkmate, but as I remember, they are a little expensive vs just typing the list on my computer, uploading to Dropbox, then downloading to IBooks. I'm 100 percent IOS right now.

OK, I finished my 7 page SkyCatcher checklist using Microsoft Word. I then converted it to a PDF file and uploaded to my Dropbox. From there, I downloaded to iBooks on my IPad Mini 4. It works very well, but I think the font might be a little small. I'm going to increase the font size and see if I like that better.
