That is great for the hardware version, but anything similar for the app version?

On my Android device, I have a couple of PDF files that I sometimes refer to in the air. They're in an easy-to-reach directory on my Google Drive, and although it takes a few screen taps to get the file up initially, after that it's only two taps to swap between the iFly app and the PDF file (one tap on the "show all apps currently running" button, and one tap on the PDF file or iFly window to bring it to the foreground).

If I wanted to make it even easier, I could create a folder of shortcuts to the files I want in-flight, and then it would be three taps to open one of those files from iFly: One tap on the home page button, one tap to open the folder, and one tap to select the file I wanted to show.

I am sure iOS devices could be set up similarly.

Using my IPad Mini 4, I put the owners manuals, etc in IBooks and put the IBooks icon next to the IFly GPS icon. If I need to refer to something, I click the home botton on the IPad, then the IBooks icon and there it is. I have the POH for the SkyCatcher and Remos I fly, as well as manuals for all the different avionics on both airplanes. If you know you're going to need it, you can open the document in advance and go to the page you need and it will be there when you click IBooks.

Sometimes, it's better to use other apps rather encumber one app with too many functions.

Hi Brian - "I realize I can put this stuff in the tablet somewhere, but I don't want to have to open a separate app and switch back and forth. when I am flying Ifly and nothing else is open." Thus my request for a small spreadsheet app. Anyway, I tried coping the picture in your link to use that for my clipboard notes, but the resolution isn't good enough. However, if I am not mistaken, I think the iFly GPS will open a PDF file. I'm going to try to type this information up in a Word document and then save it as a PDF file. If I can make this to work, I'll let you know. - Jim Williams

How's this...

Hi Mike D - Yea, that's the jpeg that I tried. I can read it on my laptop just fine. However, it didn't work too well on my iFly 700, especially when zoomed in. Also, if you open my pdf file you'll see that I changed the information a little. I've also discovered that pdf files work a lot smoother than jpeg files on my android tablet. I also discover today that I can place shortcuts for files and folders on my home page. (I had to download a widget called 'File Widget'.) My first (1 out of 3 home pages) is dedicated to flying. Now I am just two taps away from all of my aviation documents and spreadsheets while flying with iFly. - Jim Williams
