Just returned from a CAP search and rescue exercise. At the base, everything has to flow quickly in order to get the planes in the air as soon as possible. Much is being done at the national level to automate past paper practices, but the grids are still marked-up by hand on paper charts most of the time. Some flight crews have ForeFlight CAP grids and they are noticeably good-to-go faster. Please move forward on this request so I can do presentations on it at CAP squadrons. I would be happy to participate on testing when you are ready.

I agree with Al, providing search grid capabilities that meet Civil Air Patrol requirements would be a great service and likely far easier to use than current search and rescue tools available to CAP members.

If you are seeking people that can assist you to find CAP's needs/practices re: search and rescue strategies, I'd be glad to provide contacts.

Captain, St. Paul, MN Squadron, CAP
